The fastest way of finding out what threads you have started or even all posted you have made is to get familiar with the "User CP" link seen on the blue menu bar near the top of the page here as well as any other page on the forum. This will also have all of the options for choosing your avatar as well as editing your signature.

Christian Darrall has pointed out one method for seeing a good install of Avast or any other program by trying the uninstall option and then try another fresh attempt in case the installer froze. Sometimes you may have to download another copy if something was incomplete on the first. Another thing to note is that any current firewall, antivirus, or other protection programs can interfer with the installation of any new program.

Excuse the slight typo there. That's been corrected!

One main problem often seen with uninstallers is the typical leftovers found in the system registry as well as the files and folders created and files copied to them. A manual method for removal require the use of the task manager to end any/all processes associated with Kaspersky, a manual deletion of the files and folders installed, and the use of a registry cleaner to remove the then useless entries there.

This method has worked well with other programs like AVG where one freeware makes the manual deletion of the registry for Grisoft and most likely the Kasperski keys there easily done. The freeware itself is called RegCleaner found at http://www.dewassoc.com/support/useful/regcleaner.htm

In the main window is seen when first starting that up you simply scroll to the correct entries seen there in order to place a check mark next to them and click the "remove" button on the lower right corner next to the exit. The screen capture here shows how this is done for AVG and once you know the correct ones for Kaspersky.

When you have a bad uninstaller that may have never seen a good install along with a program you find yourself in an awkward position until you can exit the program and even use the msconfig to disble it's items in both the startup and services groups(antivirus - firewalls items there) to disable the auto start of those and manually delete the files and folders from the drive. That still leaves the one thing this freeware does well namely remove keys!

As you can see from the captured image all programs other then MS are seen in the main winodw when first opened. Instead of trying to open various branches in the registry by way of the regedit window through the branches and "hives" the slow way for one thing at a time you have immediate access seen in one window. Put a check mark nect to the ones you need to remove and click the remove button. All you do first by either method is Be Careful not to remove the wrong ones or .... ! you made an ut ohhhh...
