two questions....[with pic!]

First of all, I have 1GB of Kingston Digital Memory, and for some reason, if I go to my Task Manager in the performance section, it says that I have 599 MB of cached memory, and 577 MB of used memory an 0 free memory... all of my programs are slow and I just don't get it. How do I clear cached memory? What is it? And for my second question... I wish to buy another GIG of memory, how do I know if I should get DDR or HDDR or RAM etc.? Please help me in any way you can and no flaming please.

You need to use a program called CPU-Z, if you post what is says with a screenshot under "memory" you can be advised exaclty what RAM to purchase!

I'm not sure if that's a problem... I have 1.5GB and mine shows 1GB cached... not exactly sure how this applies to performance, but mine runs fine.

Also, just restarting clears your RAM cache.

ok.. cool, i just restarted but cache is the same but performance is great... not sure what the problem was... thanx for the help

The Vista performance tab in the task manager never seemed to make sense. Because according to that, you have 1GB of RAM, you are using 624MB, and only have 4MB free? That doesnt equal 1GB.

I would download the CPU and RAM usage widget for Vista, which tells you the percentage of RAM you are using. You can get it by right clicking on the sidebar and click "add widget".
