And I would imagine... if you are dual booting windows on a mac, and get a windows virus, it would affect your whole computer.
And macs have been around for awhile, but the people who script viruses, have been more involved with scripting them for windows, cause they want to show how 'insecure' windows is.
Give it time...
My friend uses a macbook, he wants to play CSS, and cant, and hes always over here playing it on my pc.
Plus, those pc vs mac commercials are stereotypical.
The only reason there are many viruses for Windows systems and very few for Macs, is that Windows systems are 95% of the computer market. Why write a virus when only 5% or less of the population is going to be affected?
By the way, these figures are not real, but are close to actual.
that doesnt really make a difference, whats more important is what he is using it forWhats more popular?

Whats the average operating system at a LAN party.
It does make a difference...
Show me one Pc Vs Mac commercial, where somebody mentions PC's are better at gaming...
If you get a mac desktop, your stuck with it. You cant even build a mac.
You can do both of those with pc's.
Macs are getting more popular, but only cause there throwing themselves out there...
And pretty much saying macs are a lot better then pc's.
Whats more popular?

No actually you are only partly correct. Since OS X is built off of Unix permissions, ie r-w-x, it can be locked down a lot more and is way more secure that windows.
Now, I am not a developer by any means but I understand some basics. Basically, Unix/Linux OSes use what is called a micro kernel, and that micro kernel runs the OS at the basic level. All root level system processes run at this level and are locked down. Now things like drivers, and applications run as high level processes but not as root level. Where as in Windows, a device driver runs at root level, which is retarded, sloppy coding, and allows people to write easy viruses for the OS. That is why rogue applications and viruses can use drivers to infect a windows based system. In OS X if you are not logged in as an admin, which you normally shouldn't be, then no application can install. Like I said, google MOAB, and OS X hacked, and you will see that every attempt to fully hack a mac was only met by bending the rules of the contest and giving hackers local access to a machine. I am not saying it is impossible, but it is a hell of a lot harder than to hack something like windows.
Look, I don't even know why this discussion is going on any further. I recommend anyone wishing to learn more about Macintosh computers go the forum I linked in a previous post. I am a member there myself, and there are many other people who can answer your questions way more accurately.
