Is AMD going to make a new processor?

I'm sure they are... what kind of question is that? It's either keep up with the market, or they could choose to fade into nonexistence.

Some guy at bestbuy told me that they are going to come out with one that will whoop every intel processor, but I wouldnt trust him

AMD will release there new processors on Q3 2007

However, intel will drop the price of their Quad core and Dual core processors in Q3 2007. Intel will release also their new 1333MHz FSB dual core processor.

Intel will also replace their QX6800 with QX6850 which have 1333 FSB

You need to pray for AMD if you want it to survive .........

Here is a list for AMD new processors (I took it from wikipedia)

AMD will add L3 cache memory to their new processors and it those new processors will use HyperTransport 3.0

I can see the X4's, but why are they making X2's even lower model numbers? Doesnt the X2 3600 run at 1.9Ghz anyways?

Possibly they will drop the prices quite a bit, and make X2's a budget processor?

The Agena and Kuma are the top line. There making a Rana to replace the current X2 and a Spica to replace the Sempron in the lower end, both without the L3. Why would they not make a Kuma X2 1900 when the Rana is replacing the X2 3600. The X2 3600 is not even in the same league with the Kuma?

But according to that chart, it looks like they are the same specs as the X2's that are already out, but with the the model numbers like 3600+, 4400+, 5000+, etc. Now they are going to change it to the 1900+?

X4's, are the quads?
Since the X2's are duals, it's pretty safe to say the X4's will be quads :P

Ok, I think I know why. Back when processors were all single core, AMD processors of the same clock speed would out perform Intels (You know this). So they came up with a new naming convention... 3200+s were supposed to perform on the same level as a 3.2Ghz Intel... 2800+s the same level as a 2.8Ghz Intel, etc.

Now, with dual core processors, AMD and Intel are competing at nearly the same level, so AMD is going back to a normal naming convention.... the 1900 competes with a 1.9Ghz Intel and so-on. Their honesty is nice, how they admit that they are no longer superior to Intel.

No, AMD never has their numbering scheme on the A64's to match Intels processors, a 3200+ was not equal to a P4 3.2. Those were just rumors and what noobs always thought, lol

Did you all just notice that, AMD said they were dropping the PR rating 2 months ago?
I must have missed that. Do you mean drop completely or just re-make the PR rating?

That's funny, because that's in my A+ Certification Exam Guide.

wow, just wow. Were they talking about the Athlon XP's? Because I believe if that was the case, it was with the XP PR rating.

I remember when everyone was talking about this when the A64's were the big rage, and I went onto AMD's website and they specifically said that their rating scheme is simply a way of comparing their processor models within the same class of processors (such as the X2 series, A64 series, etc). And that they do not correspond with comparing their processors to Intel's.

AS far as I know the PR rating started with the XP Athlon to compare the XP to what the orginal plain Athlon would have to be running at. Say the XP Athlon 3200 ran at 2.2ghz so the 3200 meant that the plain Athlon would have to be running 3.2 ghz to compare and they just kept using the PR till now. It just matched up with the performance of the P4, so people thought that it was a comparison to the P4.
As far as I know the new ones will be named what they are with no PR rating.
