AMD Phenom processor

So basically...

Phenom FX = Core 2 Extreme
Phenom X4 = Core 2 Quad
Phenom X2 = Core 2 Duo
Athlon = Pentium E
Sempron = Celeron 4xx

It seems like AMD are making sure that they have something positioned against each of Intel's desktop products.

any idea on the phenom's release date? I pretty sure intel will be force to start a huge price drop over all the cd2 product when amd phenom hits the market. just like what happen on cd2 release, one night all the amd x2 processor -50% from their original price before cd2 releases. I hope they releases it soon as I'm about to build a new comp.

I guess ill wait till they release that before i make a new build. Hopefully their new processors will beat out Intel. Im not a huge Intel fan, love my AMDs.

I think ill go with a quad core one, after using my dual core X2, with all the stuff i try to do at once, its just not enough. Like right now, im running NFSMW while recording video from it, then taking it into WMM to compress the video i recorded from NFSMW, which im talking about dealing with file sizes exceeding 5gb being compressed into a 10-20mb file. Thats alot of compressing. Its not too bad, but there is a little lag, which doesnt surprise, i mean this is hard work for my CPU. And actually my motherboard was running hotter then my CPU! Both cores loaded, 41c CPU and 43c MB, stock clock settings (since it doesnt want to OC) and about 130mb of free ram and im still able to surf the net pretty fast.

I wonder now what all i could do before it started to slow down if i could run 2.8ghz again.......
