Quick Build Please

I am looking to purchase new parts and build a system for myself tomorrow, Saturday afternoon.

I live in California.

My budget is $500, I can MAYBE stretch a little more, but there is a shipping tax for certain states, and unfortunately I live in one of those states :P.

I play CS and CSS, work in Photoshop a lot, and I chat/browse the internet a lot. CS 1.6 and CSS are the games I really need to play smoothly on, as I am competitive in them. I also like to download high quality frag movies and watch them so that is also another factor. Right now I'm running AMD Athlon XP 3200, 512 MB Ram, Nvidia Onboard MX 4 64 MB Video card, and a 160 GB hdd (IDE).

I won't need a monitor, OS, or CD/DVD/Floppy drives, I'll use the ones I have right now.

Help is VERY appreciated, and thank you so much in advance.

Well, there is no way you're going to get parts tomorrow, unless you buy locally... I don't think that even next day shipping is fast enough. Also, either way, you would be paying much more than you need to pay.

No lol I mean I want to ORDER the parts tomorrow. I dont care how long it takes to ship, but Im gonna order tomorrow :)

Here is a build I put together for someone just a little bit ago, about $450 with shipping and OS:

For $500 you might be able to get an E6420 or something around that.

Told you no OS needed.

And that rig is terrible, the RAM is way too low, low hard drive, and there's not video card.

What OS are you going to run on it? Vista? If that is the case you need at least 1GB RAM. Are you going to do gaming on it or anything else with high graphics? If you are
going to run XP or Linux then 512MB should be fine.

Well, I got no help from you guys really.

First off, 512 is terrible for CSS.

Secondly, I know about Newegg, and I put together a machine myself already, all I wanted was to see what you guys would come up with.

Why didn't you post your build so it could be reviewed?? A bit of initiative goes a long way.

Madhatter -

The build you gave me does not have a GPU.

I don't get why everyone wants me to get a C2D, the AMD cpu's are good as well.

Thank you for the recommendation on the PSU. I think I will go with the MSI and then that PSU.
