The best Virus and Spyware software.

I was just curious what everyone uses for computer security and what you like best for keeping viruses and spyware off.

I use McAfee only because I get it free from comcast.

What's the best software?

I have avast antivirus,mc cafee, spybot search and destroy,ad aware se professional and a couple others that I can't really remember right now.

Im not sure which ones the best though.

Mixture is best. NOD32, ADAWARE, SPYBOT S AND D, SPYSWEEPER, NORTON CORPORATE, MCAFEE CORPORATE AND MORE....

Instead of mixture try familiarity with several! There's no one program for everything. Some new bug will always find a way to slip past existing protections on a system. That's why someone has to come out with a special remover on occasion.

While Pondo is being a run at the moment Grisoft's AVG 7.5 will top both Norton and McAfee put together. Ad-Aware SE Personal now has a competitor seen in Spyware Terminator that also includes a mild firewall. Webroot's Spy Sweeper shareware lists "false positives" in order to pressure you into buying the full retail version.

Spybot S&D does see better reviews over Spy Sweeper by a long shot. For additional protection a firewall like Jetico or Comodo usually works for freewares. Replacing IE 6 with IE7 will go further in avoiding bogus sites with trojan downloaders keeping more crap off of your system by safer browsing habits.

I don't think mixture is best.
I tried lots of anti-virus softwares.What a pity, no one fit my meet.No matter the Norton, Mcafee, Avast, Nod32, Kaspersky and so on. They can't kill all virus, spyware, or adware. Sometimes I have to reinstall my OS or format my HD to clear the threat.
So I using a free anti-virus now. Because I think the anti-virus softwares are the same. NO matter whether is free or not.
That's my personal experience of nearly ten years of computer.
Maybe some of you do not agree. But that's OK.

I think Avast antivirus is the best...its detection rate is excellent.

And for antispyware i use Advanced Spyware Remover,Its realy good but its not free .

As said previously in this forum there is no full stop absolute, done need any more program that covers anything, its just anotehr one of those pain's in the ass

You have the idea there! There's such thing as a "best one". As far as antivirus one will conflict with other since one will want domiance. While not being anything absolute the combination of AVG, Ad-Aware SE Personal, and Spyware Terminator has worked out here since they don't conflict with each other. But whether it's AVG or another you often end up needing a special remover for some bugs that slip right past the normal protection layers.
