HIGH CPU temps...getting worried.

Feels like summer in California right now:D Good thing. But for my computer not so lucky.

I have a stock HSF and temps are in the high 40-50C which is getting me quite worried.

I have two options:

1. Buy new HSF (hopefully someone can guide be on a 939 socket) good price and good cooling and all of that. And apply new paste.

2. Buy Air conditioning unit for my room for about $100USD

My theory is, buy a AC unit for 100USD and not only make myself happy but my computer as well.

I am guessing good CPU coolers for my socket 939 are around 50 bucks with shipping.

Any help is appreciated.
p.s. temps outside are 85Degress F

Thanks!:D

dont worry, mines are about the same now since temps are rising now. i got an AC in my room too, and i think that helps. but wats more helpful is to keep ur fan and heatsink clean of dust. i just cleaned out my comp today when i got home and saw noticeable temp. diffs.

i think u should just get an aftermarket hsf, unless ur reli hot, then get an AC. but that reli will only help u, not ur comp. unless ur comp is right next to the ac and the ac is blowin in it. lol

Well the AC unit will be like 5 ft away from the computer. And just last week I cracked the case and dusted it out...Wasn't that bad either.

But if the AC decreased my overall room temp than it should factor in the CPU temp as well....:D

well maybe...... it didnt reli make a diff for me, unless the cool air from the AC can be directed into the comps intake fan (if u have one) then that should work.

Well I wasnt thinking that far in depth...Just was thinking it would cool down the ambient temp in my room...LOL

LOL. well if thats the case, then u should be postin in a air conditioning forum. LMAO.

im confused now....... damn it man, make up ur mind! Lol.
is it ur room u wanna cool down or your comp? haha

Yup, your temps are all right. my Pentium 4 idles at 40+ and runs at 50+. Water cooling or a aftermarket copperHSF would help.

Thats what I thought a nice copper Heat sink fan. Have any recommendations for my specs? any links?

Thanks!

Yeah, The Zalman ones are really cool (get the pun ;) :P )

Anyway, You have to take your motherboard out of the case to put it on which is a bit of a pain!

its worth it to save your cpu wouldnt u agree? dealing with computers can be a pain, but..... u want it to survive, u either pay high money for someone to do it for u, or u pay less and do the labor yourself. :P

Thanks for the link....I just might as well spend the money on the AC unit. Those are just as much. Thanks for the links!:D
