My mother is the one purchasing my computer, she said I HAVE to get dell....so...I ordered...

C2D e6600
4GB DDR2 ram
8600 gts
Vista Home Premium
500gb hdd

you should be fine...
GPU is one thing to consider should you decide you want to upgrade later...
but for now you are good... :)

That card should do fine... But good luck. The last Dell's I used had some quality issues... Like, 5 of the 10 I got had problems(loose screws, loose cables, and even dead drives)

i think there are mixed opinions on dell, overpriced yes but mostly they are pretty reliable. still got the 4yr old dell running fine and had no problems what so ever. Lets hope you got one of the good ones.lol

I agree, My main computer is a Dell that is older than six years old and I have had no problems. Dell is a great company. I use an Inspiron E1505 as well and it runs like a charm. :D We did have one issue with some bad pixels on the LCD but someone came right to the house and fixed it. That looks like an awesome machine. I like the RAM. :) Now I want one! :D

Well, technically the ram is too much, cause I think Vista only recognizes 3.25 gb or so. But hey, it's nice to have, right? :)

I like it and no offense to you but, your next thread will be "So I screwed up", lol. You might get lucky, but Dells are a pain when upgrade time comes.

Ya they are I have replaced my hard drive, power supply, video card, soundcard with other stuff from my dell but I still have the motherboard and cpu that is in there cause dell has to go and be stupid and have its own proprietary motherboards.

Like TOO said, if you can, check the inside, make sure everything is secure and stuff.
If you have any questions, post them and we'll try and help you.

He should know if there is a problem. Like about the screw, it was litterly loose and sliding around inside the case  And other problems, drives wouldn't work. The bad hard drive actually prevented the computer from coming on! Removing the drive, it was fine...

it's overkill AND underkill...
you don't need more than 2gb of ram, (i'm assuming), the 500gb upgrade was probably overpriced considering it's dell, and why'd you skimp out on the video card D:

well to the rest of you, my suggestion if your parents are pressuring you for a dell, etc, just get a processor and stuff from them, but make sure you select integrated video and a small hard drive. That way, you can go buy whatever parts you want and save about $300 in the process.

Umm, No, I just build. Why buy and get that stock looking Dell case? Those things have the worst color scheme ever. Who puts Charcoal Gray and a black color that looks purple together? The new silver cases scratch easier than CD's.
