Breif Computer Building Guide and New PC

It works by the HSF being in the way of the PSU so you cant get the PSU out of the case with out taking off the HSF or ripping it off, what ever comes first.

Ahh right, I get you, I'll change it for you :P

My case is completely diferent to this, i dont have to screw anything in, it makes it much easier, just all plastic attachments and holding tiers, doesnt bother me, just to know what else is out there :)

I like it dude adding the part about removing old hardware was a nice touch maybe you could add a part about installing the os just an idea

The problem is though that there are a vast number of installers. There are 2 for each Ubuntu distro for example, LiveCD and alternate.

thanks for the info GCR I didn't know that
he could always add a part saying next add the os of your choice and so on just a thought to throw out there

Thanks man, like GCR said, there are many, I could use your seggestion about installing the OS you want... I'll add that in now, Thanks :)

This guide is awesome Kornowski,Thanks.

Yeah we do have the Computers 101 thread ,But.... i dunno about you lot but i learn and understand alot more if there is detailed pictures in it too ;) .

Thanks for your time in making this Kornowski,Maybe it should be merged somehow with the Computers 101 thread

I agree with you on this one Nevakonaza, pictures help me learn too. I understood most of it because I have upgraded CPU's, Graphics cards, RAM etc etc..but the connecting of the wires is where I am affraid. There are so meany arent there?

I was thinking of just something about installing xp just to show people how to do it and if they need tips on other os's they could always ask

Nah, it isn't hard at all, A general rule, if it doesn't fit, it's not meant to be there :P

There's 4 pin molex connectors, SATA connectors, PCI-e Connectors, 20 pin MOBO connector and the 4 pin MOBO connector, it's really simple :)

I'm not sure I know what you mean, like what?

i think he means a step ny step on how to install windows on a new HD or reformat you old HD an reinstall windows

or any other operating system

I get you, but it's hard, because each OS will install differently, so there isn't really steps that I can give, I could maybe put in that you will have to insert the OS CD and set it as the boot device from the BIOS?

yeah I meant just a little info on installing an os sorry about the confusing post thanks 4NGU$ for clearing that up

wow that building computers 101 is old....there's pictures with it but nothing updated so really not worth even looking at...

Yes it is old however I will be trying to upgrade it during this summer as I am done with school and will finally be making some money to build a new system. It will most likely be updated near towards the end of the summer but it will be done. This is a good guide however in the meantime but some editing may be required to point out some finer points of CPU instillation. Not everyone who reads this guide would understand the finer points of things such as "push it in, pull it out" the guide should be written with the absolute lowest computer user in mind, such as a grandfather who has never used computers ever in his life. The easier it is described with the more steps I feel makes it easier to understand how to put together the machine.

Like mentioned there are pictures in the Building Computers 101 thread, you need to click the orange link which denotes that it's a picture...in a link.
