DHCP Release - Uh oh what did I do?!

I am using the Linksys WRTP54G Vonage Router with 2 ports

I was in the admin panel and when I was in Status->Router I accidentally selected DHCP Release. Since then my connection has been on and off depending on what computers are on or off. Well my main desktop has lost its static IP address and now a lot of stuff doesn't work including my firewall. I can only browse the internet if I turn ZoneAlarm off. Also my slsk and azureus quit working which is obviously due to the lack of static IP because that's how port forwarding works.

Please help me get back my static IP. When I go to places like whatsmyip it says a unique IP address that is not my static one, but when I go run->cmd->ipconfig /all it says my static IP. What is going on?! in ipconfig /all it says DHCP enabled - no and I'm pretty sure that is supposed to be a yes although I'm not sure how to fix it. Please help and quick being connected to the internet without my firewall is scaring me!

When I renew the DHCP, it gives me a different IP address that is 68.xxx.xx.xx but before it was 192.168.15.xx. I believe that is my problem. When I do ipconfig /all it shows as 192.168.15.xx but it says DHCP enabled - No. But when I go to any site that tells me my IP, it says 68.xxx.xx.xx

And this is precisely why I'm afraid to muck around with anything in my Linksys BEFSR41 in order to get Shareaza to work. I dunno if it's worth it, with troubles like this.

Are you getting an "IP Conflict" message too?

There are 2 ways to fix the problem:

1.) The easiest way is to find the reset switch on either the back or underneath the router and hold it for about 30 seconds to reset the router back to factory settings. I would suggest using a ball point pen. You can also reset the factory settings in the admin window when you log into the router.

2.) The harder way. You may have to manually set up the DHCP and assign new IP addresses on the router by yourself and on all the computers that connect through the router. The DHCP will start with the 68.x.xx.xx. The IP addresses will start with 192.168.2.x on that particular router. Assign the DHCP to the router and then input it in every computer that connects. Then assign an IP address to each computer that will be unique to each computer. The router naturally is 192.168.2.1 so start with 192.168.2.2 and so on for all other computers.

Good luck!

Yeah it would be a ton better if I wasn't so confused. I understand about half of the stuff, but part of the reason I'm confused is because my dad had an IT guy from his work set up our wireless network. So half the crap I don't even know what he did, I only understand parts of it.

Ok well in that case just reset the router back to factory settings and it should work just fine.

well first off when you goto whatismyip.com it gives you the ip address that you provider assigns to you and when you do ipconfig it give you the ip of the computer, they are not suppose to be the same.
it does look like the DHCP is turned off in the router.
if you have more then one computer in the house you should turn it back on.
