Just a quick one here what setup would run games/applications/windows etc better/faster... i know about the whole if one goes they both go but ignoring that.....

single - 320GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache 7200RPM HDD

or

(RAID-0) 320GB (160GBx2) SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 8MB Cache 7200RPM HDD

thanks

I would imagine the RAID configuration would be faster, however, unless you are using high speed drives(10k-15k) there may not be a notable increase in performance unless you are doing intensive HD tasks.

My advice would be to buy one 10k.

Neither would really run anything faster. The RAID1 should have load faster load times though.

Either one should load faster....but I seem to have a problem with putting the right number after 'RAID' lately.

wouldn't the RAID1 decrease performance because it needs to copy data all the time? no idea. new to RAID

Yes, from my experience RAID has slowed down performance as it is constantly making a copy of the data.
Correct me if im wrong and my PC was just crap and like to do wierd things

Writing should be no faster in a RAID1 but reading times should improve a little. Reading and writing should be faster in a striped array because each drive needs to write less.

The RAID0 array will improve loading times and large file transfers, but wont decrease access or read/write times.
