Ok well this just started happing today...

When I first boot up my computer which is running Win. XP Home Edition (SP2) I get a message form AVG 7.5 which looks like this:
AVGerror.jpg

When I click "OK" the window pops up that says AVG control center needs to close. It's the one where you can send the error report to Microsoft.

Anyway, AVG refuses to start up and I've already tried to uninstall it and reinstall it again and the same thing happened! Can some one tell me how to get AVG working again? Thanks for any help ;)

Oh and another thing. My icons in the start menu under "All Programs" are messed up. The Quick Start icons are mixed in with the Folder icons as you can see here:
Messedupicons.jpg

I manually moved the Quick Start icons back to the bottom where the belong but when I reinstalled AVG, they moved back into the Folder area. I can't see how this and the AVG problem are related but they happened together:confused:

Thanks for any help,
Matt

Edit: Ok I think I might have found a contributor to the problem. Somehow my date and time got screw up and it said the year was 16407! Would that cause problems with AVG or the rest of the Operating System?

Thanks again,
Matt

That sounds like a virus to me. My date got screwed up on my computer (said it was November 2005) a couple weeks ago, but AVG just said that the internal virus database was newer than the computer. It didnt screw up a bunch. If the year was later, AVG would have just said that the internal virus database was out of date by 14000 years.

I solved the problem but by only switching to a different Anit-Virus software. I switched to Avira AntiVir and now everything seems back to normal:cool:

STOP IT! Stop making stupid comments like that! It's your opinion, not fact!
You've done it so many times!

Just quit it!

I just wish he'd stop, he's really irritating me at the moment!

Yeah, at least you aren't going around making out that your opinion is fact ;)
