..if and when i get info for a replacement hard drive, how does one transfer (the entire hard drive contents) all the data to the new hard drive? i

how abt a external hdd case n u put ur old hdd in it, use it in parallel!

...thanks for the reply however, i really don't want to go that route although, i had thought about it...it appears that i am $hit out of luck and will have to install a dvd burner and image the darn thing...

Unless it's an identical drive, you cant make an image of the drive or transfer over the OS or programs. You can only transfer over files.

Best way is to install Windows on the new hard drive, then install the old hard drive as a secondary drive, and just copy the files you want.

...thanks fro the reply..HOWEVER, i didn't mention installing windows os from scratch. i wanted to do the entire hd at once...from what i can see, there is no way to do this w/o and external drive or by imagery.....there is also NO WAY that i can connect 2 drives to the LAPTOP and have one set as secondary unless external used. (see previous posts).....thanks anyway.
