7950gt or 8800gts?

You can always share some of your PC's RAM, if you have extra, to make up for what GfxRAM that you think you are missing. 8800GTS will outperform the 7950 anytime.

I just picked up the 640mb evga last week. It's really nice, being able to play ultra settings, everything maxed out on a 20" screen. If it were me, I'd go ahead and get the 640mb, only because probably 6 months from now, you are going to wish you'd spent that extra $50. Trust me I did the same thing when I bought my 7600gt.

do you think any of the 8600gt's are worth it? They are too new for me to tell, but I was just wondering if it would be worth it to get the cheaper card and still be in the Geforce series 8.

Honestly, I think the 8600GTS or anything lower then the 8800GTS 320MB isnt worth it. The reason being that people who buy those cards probably say "I want to play DX10 games, but dont want to spend much money". Although when DX10 games are popular, even the 8800GTS will have trouble playing the games on decent settings.

So either buy a nice DX9 card which has a better price-to-performance ratio, or buy a nice DX10 card. Don't buy a cheap DX10 card.

thanks for the help. I think I might bump it up to the 640mb, if I can shift some things around a bit. It's a massive boost in performance for a mere 50 bucks more, ya know? I'll see if I can swing it. Thanks again.
