I'm currently undecided on buying a new graphics card, but I pretty much narrowed it down to the 8600GTS and X1950PRO for gaming

For about the same price, I can get either one of these cards

I'm thinking about x1950pro because it has better performance

but I'm thinking about 8600GTS because it has directx10

do you guys have any suggestions??? please help

btw is tigerdirect a good and well-known website to purchase from?

Well, by the specs I'd say the 8600GTS, but I've read other people saying the x1950's better...

I wouldn't get a card JUST for DirectX. I've heard people say, and I agree, most of these early cards won't hardly even be able to handle DirectX 10 once it's truly utilized. There currently, what...one game out that actually supports it? :P

And tigerdirect is fine and dandy, but Newegg is typically cheaper. TigerDirect's cheapest stuff tends to be with rebates, and they charge taxes(at least for me here in NC)

It depends on which game you play.

In games like oblivion and STALKER, 8600GTS performs much better. However, X1950pro performs much better on FEAR and HL2 for example.

Personally, I would get 8600GTS.

But on newegg you can get 7950GT for only $149, and it is overall better than both

Edit: from TigerDirect you can get for the same price

Well, wont EITHER card play all of the games mentioned reasonably well?

I would get the 8600 because it's newer, and is going to be more future-capable, and not sweat it over a few lost frames per second on any given game.
