WD Raptor install

Hello,
I am new to computers, and I am STUMPED..PLEASE HELP. Ok I just bought a used WD 36GB Raptor, uninstalled my IDE HDD, installed Raptor, checked bios, and it detected the Raptor, and had removed the IDE. I was able to boot to Windows disk, delete partition, create partition, format, and install windows.
However, when I got into windows, it showed my HDD as a "removeable" device. There was an icon next to the clock that said "Safely Remove Hardware". I would also get random BSOD's. I downloaded Western Digital's "Data lifeguard diagnostics, and tools" and scanned the drive with zero errors. I spoke to Western Digital, and they advised me to create a disk with their "Data Lifeguard Tools" and boot to that and NOT windows. I am stupid because I cant get the disks to load B-4 windows. Now the drive wont complete the windows install or format.
Any ideas?

The "Safely Remove Hardware" was fine. Search the forums, it's a common problem. My computer shows the same thing for my SATA hard drive. Read the specs, SATA is hot swappable :P

Now then, as for your other problems... How did you create the dataguard disk? Was it a CD ISO or something else? Pretty much unless it's an ISO(or maybe some floppy image/writer program), the disk will not be bootable.

I guess this is your only SATA drive you could test out on the system. It sounds like it could be a bad drive, espcailly if it will no longer format(assuming no settings were changed...) I'd definetly give your BIOS setup a good check-over, perhaps even reset it. And double check you don't need any drivers for SATA drives(unlikely, but worth a shot).

RAID Drivers

Also someone told me that the RAID drivers need to be installed even if I am only using 1 HDD. Is this true?
Also do I HAVE to used the westerd didital data lifeguard tools? If so can someone walk me through how to make a bootable cd of this?
Thanks

No, you don't need to have RAID drivers when you're only using one HDD. The data lifeguard tools are not neccessary either. A better option is to make a backup image of your HDD using GHOST, which will enable you to makie a bootable copy of everything on your HDD onto any other HDD. It's better to spend a little now for a 2nd drive to use for backup... even a 20Gb EIDE drive is better than nothing at all... than to have to go through all the hassle of reinstalling your OS if something happens.

Erase your HDD and start over. It should work

ISO file

I believe i just copied it. So I need special software to make it "bootable"? If so can you help me?
And possibly I need to install the RAID drivers?
Thanks

And ISO is an "image" of a CD...basically like a ZIP file. Most burning programs have an option to burn CD images or ISOs. If yours doesn't, search google for Deep Burner. The free version burns ISOs just fine.

WD Raptor

Well i pluged the Raptor back in, used the Data Lifeguard to format partition, then made a "copy" of my ide drive onto the Raptor. Powered down, disconnected IDE, and Raptor booted!! It said that there are 2 versions of windows, and which would i like to run. I picked one, and it is working. When I went to the drive, it only shows one instance of windows. Should i format again, and try to do the data lifeguard thing again?

Sata Trouble

Well after setting IDE as Primary, i formatted the SATA, then used the WD Data Lifeguard to copy the IDE to the SATA, and it still shows 2 versions of windows. Allthough the drive seems to be working. How do I fix the 2 windows thing?
