CPU Fan

I have a program called PC Probe 2 and i was just wondering what i should set my cpu fan RPMs at and what is the max temp. my CPU should be at?

thanks

i would say 40 degrees (celcius) is pretty warm, anything over that is quite dangerous, if its a pc you bought from a shop i wouldn't worry about changing the RPMs

pentium do tend to run hotter than amd's anyway and pentiums can handle heat better too, so 40 degrees shouldn't be a problem at all

40C is not hot.

It depends on you're CPU, if it's a Pentium 4 then it can get up to 70C without it being too dangerous, or a Core 2 Duo where I would keep it under 60C. But lower is better.

Agreed. 40C is a fair temperature. 65+C is hot for me. If your worried about noise, then set it to a fair speed where it has sufficient airflow for cooling and low enough noise, otherwise if your not noise-worried, raise it to the max.

high temp story: overclocked a slot 1 400Mhz to 600Mhz 50% overclock.. from40c idle to 82C idle... and you can guess the temp when I started benchmarking the computer... amazingly it lived, no bsods, just one restart.. andwhen it restarted the temp was at 88C+ It had 2 small fans that moved probably 10CFM (together)... imstalled a 70mm fan on it (with a bit of modifying) and got the temp down to 50C idle,

Curious: Overclocking?
