As the specs of HD 2600 is also out should I wait for HD 2600 or go with 8600GT.As I will be using the card for gaming and watching movies.

To be honest, from what i've seen there isn't much of a difference between the two of them. But because i'm me i would get the 2600, only because that's me.;)

I heard that 2600 series will be out on June 30, so you will need to wait one month to get it.

However, you can get 7900GS for about the same price and it outperforms both.

I would have but now DX9 is old thing for me.So I am hunting for DX10 mid range cards.

The thing is, DX10 games are going to run horribly on low and mid-ranged DX10 cards out now. Even the high end 8800 series struggles with DX10 games.

I would say either buy a decent DX9 card, or a high-end DX10 card. Dont buy a mid-ranged or low-end DX10 card.

It would be a bad move indeed, on either companies part, if their low/mid end cards can't play dx10. The market lives in that range of cards.. So i think that a 8600gts will have to perform acceptably with DX10.. that or the 8800gts or HD 2900 xt will have to drop to a low enough price ($150-200) to meet the demand of the majority of pc gamers out there.
