Linux on old computer

Is there any distro of Linux that would run on a computer with 32MB RAM and 10gigs hard drive? I want to experiment with Linux before trying it on my current computer.
Thanks to those who answer in advance.

you want it!!!! no questions. i think i read a saying. windows + linux = compleate computer. I would if i were you just dule boot it. Eather that or windows virtual pc. free software lets you have a different operating sys on your comp. Altho i find linux is SLOW on my laptop. may just be me... but i would go with dule boot. if you need help w/ this just ask. Also i personlay like fedora.

BTW. congrats patrickv on 1000 posts. (999) right now :P

edit... Just thinking since you are a noob at linux (or i get the impression) you probily want a graphical interfase unless you want comand prompt all the time. For a noob it is easer to get the "real" feel of linux w/ graphical. Else you could just install the command prompt on the old comp. i bet it does not take too much ram.

What do you mean by that? Is the command prompt what you use to customize Linux? I would like to be able to do that, just to get the feel of an open source OS. Right now, it's running Windows '98, is it fairly simple to partition that to run a dual boot? One last thing, I'm running the computer in my room, so no access to the internet (I'd have to get my parents to let me do that... and I've already pushed them far enough with letting me take apart an old computer of theirs and put it back together and convincing my dad my current computer needed more RAM). So these distros would be fine without internet? Just burn it into a CD with something like the ISO burner, yeah?

yes burn them to disk and install but note that some distro's requires internet connection.I honestly don't know bout DSL or Puppy but Blag comes with a lot of stuff

how small is DSL? i know thinks like sabayon and openSUSE etc would kill a 10 gig hard drive but still its not likw they are as big as windows vista or xp or OS X. is it like 1 gig somehow? i know that the NSA runs a really small linux, lemme check how big that is. http://www.nsa.gov/selinux/code/download-stable.cfm it should be fairly small good luck with your small linux btw

DSL is about 50 Mb in size. It's no big deal.

for first time you can try some live distro... this will boot only from cd and it doesn't install anything on your hard drive... so you can try it on your current computer. but big disadvantage is you can't save anything you do in it...

i just mean that it is easet to change stuff in graphican then have to learn all the code. You can still have a prompt where as with some small ones they may just have a prompt and you have to learn how to change it. It is like windows, you have more benifets in linux then windows but it can look the same. i can have "start menus" or it could just have the terminal the whole time

Ok, well I looked at most of those and it seems they need more than 32MB RAM to run okay... so I decided to try and bust out my other computer I was trying to fix up, and I think I got it working, except I need to unlock the keyboard? When it turns on, it seems like it's working, then it flashes some of the computer's specs and then says to unlock the keyboard and press F1. How could I fix this? If I should post this somewhere else, just tell me, I just thought that it is kind of associated with my other bit so I didn't need to start a new thread.

Just start a new thread, it will get more attention. After all, unlocking the keyboard has nothing to do with Linux and only people who use Linux will usually look at this thread. ;)
