Wireless Network Issues

Hello I been having this problem with my wireless connection for awhile but it seems to be getting worse. Once a day (Usually at night) I get temporally disconnected from my router. Funny thing it always happens when we get phone calls. Up until now I would ignore it but now it seems to be happening every time we get a call. Also my speed and signal strength drop after a connection has been reestablished.

So I remember people having wireless issues with 2.4 GHz Wireless phones and routers interfering with each other. So I need to know what to do? I hear you can change the channel for your wireless network but does this work and how do I do it? Thanks.

My Router and Wireless card:

Router: Linksys WRT54GS Wireless Router.

Networking Card: Linksys Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with Speedbooster WUSB54GSC

Edit: I just noticed my phone works on the 5.8 GHz spectrum, so now I am totally lost.

Do you have two phone lines? If so a 'roll-over line' causes DSL to be knocked off when the call is transferred to the second line.

I'd still try to go without the phone if possible... Best to completely eliminate the phone.

Also, I guess the disconnection is between your computer and the router and not the router dropping the internet connection?

-edit-
Well your last post solves that question.

LOL I wish it was that easy. That phone is brand new and cost us a serious chunk of cash. It also has multiple handsets so it is more like 3-4 phones we would be losing. So thats not an option. I would think if it was my internet connection I would still be getting a signal, just no connection to the internet. Finally it only happens when I get phone calls which is extremely odd.

what you should try is hooking strait to the modem throught a ethernet cable and make sure it works there you might have to do a ipconfig under run-cmd-ipconfig
if computer doesnt connect automaticaly and call your number with a cell phone or have someone else call it and if it does what it was doing before then its time to call the cable company and if not try changing channels on the router

Yea I checked and that is not the issue.
