Ok, so the integrated wireless in my laptop finaly killed itself. It connects maybe for one minute then disconnects and I'll have to restart to get the connection back.

I've been looking around at laptop cards and then I had an idea, "Why not make all my computers wiress?" So I found http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16833162168

For the laptop, I found this card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833162128 I'll take any suggestions if you guys know anything better. My connection is coming from a coffee shop across the street.

I don't understand your "Make all computers wireless..." Do you not already have wireless in your house?

Whatever, I guess that's one of Buffalo's new routers. I have one of their older models(the standard 54G, not amplified) and it's been great. I assume the new ones are as capable and can handle DD-WRT as well,, if you wish to upgrade...

As for the wifi card, that one's probably great, but personally I'd look into getting a new internal mini-PCI card and simply replace your old one. That way you'd still have a free PCMCIA slot if you needed it and you wouldn't have anything sticking out of your laptop.

---edit---

Oh oh... I think I get it... Well if you can find a similar router for less, you can convert it to a wireless extender. It's all features DD-WRT can do. I've actually done it with my Buffalo router ;)

I do have wireless thanks to the coffee shop across the street from me, however, the desktop computers don't have wireless.

If I was to get something internal I'd have to take off the bottom of the laptop I think to switch them out I think... Can't even add RAM without taking the bottom off. I'm going to have to look at some How-Tos.

Yeah, I caught the coffee shop deal on my 2nd read.

As for the internal card...yes, obviously you'll have to get into the laptop. Some have panels you remove to get direct access to the cards, some you really must disassemble the machine.

Haha, ok, I now know how to take my laptop apart. 18 screws later I was able to see the M-Board. Those internal cards are waayyy smaller then I thought they would be. Hooking everything back up and close the case and turn it on... I wait... I wait some more.. Then it hits me, I didn't hook up the screen. So I'm gunna have to take the whole thing back apart again tomorrow. At least I get to clean the thing out.

So Cards vs. Internal. Does one have any thing major over the other? Other then just being inside and not sticking out?
