Extra 6 pin connector

Most I have saw has one but I cant say (all) have one. I am sure theres some cheap off brand that might not include one.

Graphics cards that require that 6 pin external power socket should come with an adapter, if it doesn't and its not included on the box as an accessory, then you can get one off eBay for a pittance.

Retail versions should come with one, but sometimes they dont. Mine didnt even though it showed it in the picture.

But if your power supply doesnt have a PCI-E connector, that could be a sign it isnt powerful enough to handle one, but the 8600GTS shouldnt require a heck of a lot. Do you know the specs on your PSU?

the only thing I know about by PSU is it is of 500W.As it is a cheap one.I bought this PSU just to run my C2D based system.

Look on the side of it for a name, it should show your Amps on the 12+ volt rail. If its a cheapo it might not even do what it states. The 8600gts takes some power but not alot.

If the power is not sufficient should I go for XFX8600GT?It does not require any extra connector and not power hungry also. How much performance difference will be there between GTS and GT?Will GT be good enough to play all the latest games with max setting at 1024x768.As I am using 15" monitor.
