Dx 10

No.

But who said you need to buy a $700 card? Why not buy the 8800GTS 320MB for $270, which will run current games pretty much maxed out?

oh i didn't know they had these. I thought it was only 700mb ones. But, is dx 10 really worth it A. and B., are there any games for dx 10 out yet?

You mean $700 ones? They have ones for $160 even, but there not as good.

If you get the 8800GTS, then yes, it is worth it because they are the best at playing DX9 games also (besides the more expensive DX10 cards).

And no, there arent many games out yet for DX10, just a few demos. But you need Vista for DX10, just a note.

I dont have the release dates at the top of my head, but I believe we will be seeing some coming out shortly. Some of the long awaited ones are Crysis and UT3. There is a DX10 version of LostPlanet thats out, but im not sure of the actual release date for the game.

No, say Custom PC. apparently the 3 DX10 games out atm don't run too good on even the top end cards, dropping loads of frames and i think in one game it dropped to 10fps on medium settings DX10

i think halo 2 is out know and that is vista only
Halo 2 has been out for several weeks, and it is only available for Vista. However it's not a DX10 game.

The only game i've played was Lost Planet (DX10 version), and on maxed out settings I was getting like 20-40fps depending on whats going on around me.

The DX9 and DX10 demos have been out for a while. There is barely any difference between them, but it does support DX10, so it is a DX10 game.

DX10 is very new, so dont expect a world of difference between DX9 games and the first DX10 games.
