Samsung 940MW Problems

Ok, i got my samsung monitor about 2 months ago. and yesterday i went over to a friends house who has the same monitor as me, and i noticed that his resolution seemed a lot better than mine. So when i got home and tried to change it, i couldn't get any widescreen resolutions. i downloaded the driver off the website and it didn't do anything. right now im sitting at 1024x768, and i want to get to 1440x900. I know that my graphics card can support this resolution because my previous monitor could handle it. Please help. :confused:

You should only use a widescreen resolution if you have a widescreen monitor.

As to changing your resolution to a higher one, know that all monitors have a native resolution and that the monitor works best when native.. Trying to force a higher resolution than native can cause problems.
 
it stays the same.
the weird thing is when i change it to a bigger resolution i can move the screen with my mouse. Like if i change it to 1280 by 600 i can move the screen side to side with my mouse because the whole thing doesn't fit on the monitor.

That is weird, and your monitor is supposed to have 1440x900 native resolution.

You have most recent drivers for your video card? Personally, I don't know what else it could be.
