Do i need to OC??

It's Sora from Kingdom Hearts! Only the greatest game ever based on Final fantasy And Disney! For the PS2, you really ought to try it. It's fantabulous.

man i have heard sooo much about final fantasy i think i might try that too.. is final fantasy really good?? do u get guns and stuff?

well some people have had a OC CPU for working for years. not just 2-3, but more than 4. they didn't die then, they still arnt dead. the life span of a well cooled non over voltage CPU stock is a really long time. OC will shorten it but not by much IMO. a GPU too. they are rated to go over 130*C most of the new ones. cooling matters, also voltage too. It cant bring down the life span that much... can it? if so, about how much faster do you kill it?

yeah i know OCing can really improve performance but i would rather try and avoid having to do it if i can.. like i said aslong as i can play the newer games comming out with top graphic settings ill be happy :) and if the gear im buying isnt good enough to do so ill have to keep saving until i can afford the better stuff but so far this is the list of stuff im thinking of buying:

Monitor:________________22' BenQ
Graphic Card:____________Gigabyte 8800GTX
CPU:___________________E6600 core 2 DUO
Hard Drive:______________500Gb SATA WD
RAM:___________________2 Gb Kingston DDR2
PSU:___________________Coolermaster 650W
Mother Board:___________ASUS P5B-Plus-Vista

Do u think this will be enough to get the result im after? if not what should i change? :)

P.S. i would preffer to keep the price to a minimum of about $3000 (australian$$)

Your computer looks great, More than fits your expectations. :D

Final fantasy is one of the greatest video game series of all time, PC or otherwise.. It's an RPG, meaning it's contains a lengthy story, fleshed out characters, Turn based or real time battles depending on the Specific final fantasy, the whole package. It won't appeal to people who don't like RPG's of course.

Kingdom hearts is alittle different, in a good way. But you'll figure it out.. Go out and buy them, like now. :D

yeah i think ill buy final fantasy i have heartd alot about how great it is and alot of people get addicted to it haha my fav games are the WWII ones :D their awesome!! call of duty series r the best.. too bad they never released call of duty 3 on pc :(

with those specs you won't need over clocking, don't waste your time/money with over clocking that rig. Because if one thing fails in an over clocked system it can kill lots of hardware.

yeah true i have never Oc'd before.. i never even heard about it till the other day and it also voids the warrenty.. maybe in a year or somthing i could do it to keep up:)

I over clocked a lot when I was younger. Back when chips weren't already over clocked at the factory. I remember when intel first introduced the celeron revA @ 300mhz that thing was so over clockable. I had it running at 700Mhz, stable with little extra cooling added. Well intel realized the mistake it made and made them not as easy because no one was buying a PII in those days, they were buying CeleronAs and over clocking the crap out of them.

After bout 2 years of usage, my powersupply killed itself, taking with it my motherboard. Luckily for me that was also back when things like 3 year warranties were standard, so I replaced it under warranty. They had no idea I had over clocked it, because that wasn't very common back in those days (mid 90s).

Now its real common and they test for it. I had ATI once accuse one of my old roomates of over clocking his video card when he sent it back for RMA because it failed out of the box.

yeah u cant get away with anything these days when it comes to warrenty :(

so with those components that im buying how long do u think ill be able to play games to their max until i need to update?

For the new comer trying to oc it can still become a nightmare if you play around with voltage settings and go too far there over simply raising the multiplier and seeing a system stall. There you can simply clear the cmos while rasing the voltage can cause some real damage. Overloading a supply is never good either on a long term basis. Many of the lesser quality makes lack the regulation where if a cap goes bad and shorts that can cook a board too. Have you either seen a cap go kaaaaaaa BOOM! ? All it takes is one flaw and a cloud of smoke can be seen!

hahaha:D yeah i think i might leave overclocking until i have learnt more about it :D

The best ocers are those that have the money to toy around with in case they cook something. That's the sum total there. When you read an article on ocing at some site the costs on those systems are covered by magazine or whatever there. Companies simply give them hardwares in order to write reviews. For the average user on a much tighter budget being "smart" and learning the ropes is the best advice.
