Temps on a E6600

My stock E6600 is running at 42C idle/55-57C load, and 36C idle/50C load for the individual cores (according to TAT). I have an Artic Freezer 7 Pro heatsink and a Velocity Micro computer, if that helps.
Are these temps too hot?

The temp in my room is about 74F (23C), are these still hot for the ambient temps?

The load temps are high, pretty high... I would consider getting some new thermal compound, something like Arctic Silver 5.

I have the Arctic Freezer 7 and my E6300 @ stock runs at 32c.

Ok, I might look into that Thermal Compound. Would where I live affect the temps that much? (in Louisiana) Besides the compound, is there anything else that would lower the temps?

Cool, I'll try that too. Does the Artic Freezer 7 Pro provide adaquate cooling for the CPU? Also, if I get the compound the temps will be lowered to a reasonable level, even to overclock?

Unfortunately I don't have a fan right now, but just opening up the case drops the temps to around 50C.

I used TAT too, its temps are similar to the other ones. But anyways, is the Thermal compound about all I can do???

TAT looks at the individual core temps only; SpeedFan and other utilities look at the CPU externally which is going to be 10c less because of heat transfer.

EDIT: Nate911 - The thermal compound looks to be the issue you're having at the moment; the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro is a good fan if thermal paste is applied correctly.

I just found out Velocity Micro puts the Artic Silver standard with the Artic Freezer 7 Pro. Could it be they put too much or not enough? How do I know?

EDIT: I checked out Core Temp, and it seems my Tjunction is, 85C??? Isn't that really hot?

I have 3 fans, 1 front 2 rear, I don't really see any other place I could put one, so I guess that option is out.
Any more suggestions??? I might want to overclock this and with these temps I probably won't.

Anyone???

Plus I have another question, what is a comfortable load temp and a max load temp for a c2d?

And which temp should I worry about more, the whole CPU, or each of the core temps? What is the max temperature for those?

Your computer wouldnt be running if the processor was 85C. I believe the point where it would shutdown is around 75-80C. Mine would give BSOD's after around 75C.

With the Core 2 Duo's it should the program SpeedFan should show the temps of both cores, I would go by that to monitor the temps. Of course TAT would be the best.
