Multi-Purpose College Laptop?

Hi guys,

I'm going away to college in a few months and the parents are going to be buying me a new laptop for college. Now, as an avid gamer I would like to get one that can run a lot of the newer games coming out (SC2, SupCom, CoH, etc.) but is still reasonably priced. Since this is a college laptop I will also be doing most of my school work on here as well.

I don't quite know how much my parents are willing to spend but I'll be sure to get a ball park figure for you soon. So...any recommendations?

Thanks guys.

i recommend the hp dv6000 (15 inch) or dv9000 (17 inch). both are good, but the larger dv9000 is great for games and movies. as far as specs, which apply to all brands, vista home premo, 1.8 to 2.0 dual core, 1gb ram Minimum(2gb RAM recommended), and no less than 100gb hard drive for anyone who likes to game or watch movies. that should run any game quite well. these are the specs that i have, and i am very pleased (other than the fact that i have 15gb free on my 120gb HDD...need to upgrade, accepting contributions;))

i agree with what lucky said, but avoid Vista if possible IMO. and what are you thinking as resonably priced? high spec gaming laptops are Expensive. i paid £1200 for mine when it was new about 1 1/2 years ago. its not bad now, but it costs around £700 lol.

Alright, thanks guys. My parents set a $1000 budget but I think I'm going to throw some money into it as well so I should be able to spend around $1500 - $1800.
