Hd2900xt 1gb !!

There was another R600 series Radeon model that surpassed the 8800 lineup seen a few months back. That was something like the X2000 model. When more that model comes out then you can look for the comparisons there.

Well now you simply need the games and other programs that will actually need that much. Rushing out to spend nearly $500 on a card is kind of overkill for the typical games out and will include DX10 capatible to the average system in order to sell.

ohh i want !:D

il take 2 of those in CrossFire please:D for my next system.

This would be where ATI now owned by AMD has a chance to make a comeback performance wise to compete with NVidia. You now have AMD people working on the ATI designs as well as the original ATI team. This should prove to be interesting. :D

i wonder what wattage psu you would need for just 2 of those in crossfire:D

The actual minimum is about 600-700w with 1000w setup for ocing everything including a pair of cards. That would include the methods for cooling you will need to have like extra and large fans as well as possible water cooling be used.

I'm not surprised to see under 600w for stock application there. The 1000w is usually overkill even when ocing is considered. A good stable supply large enough to handle heavy loads is advised. Even the newer cards still have to be made to run on existing systems. Keep that in mind. You don't need a power company for them.

what uses more power 2x 8800gts 640 or 1 radeon x 2900xt 1gb

and also will 2 radeon x2900 work in corssfire on a ocz gamestream 700watt, although i doubt it

The actual power used depends on what is drawn from a supply. Look over the specifications to see the size of the load each card will place to get an idea there. On one thread lately someone was going for a two cpu board with SLI capability and considering a 1000w supply there. With two FX-74s in the larger supply would then cover those plus a number of drives and devices plus any ocing.

For the average desktop model you only one cpu. But the newer models are geared to idle down. A dual processor board would qualify far more as a server type where several hard drives would place a larger load than even your typical gaming build. An SLI setup on a 10 drive server case would draw haevy there.

The initial reviews seen on the Radeon X2000 model they tested indicated it passed the 8800 models as well as all the others. Apparently that model still hasn't been seen at newegg or other vendors quite yet. The 2900XT is the only one from the X2xxx series available at the moment?

I saw those reviews, they came from a chinese site that claimed to have gotten their hands on an early R600 chip.

It would be foolish to still think they were telling the truth. ATI released their 2900xt instead of the supposedly more powerful one? Then sheepishly admitted that the 2900 wouldn't be able to compete with the 8800GTX?

It was just a crock. ;)
