XP Pro question

My son bought a Sony Vaio and the sticker on the case says it is XP Home installed but the screen says Pro. Is there a way to revert back to XP?:confused:
 
Yeah but you will need a XP home disc to do so, is there a XP key sticker on the computer?

If it has pro instead of home, is it validated, if it is why would you want to go back to home instead of using pro?
 
That is the prob, not validated, it was on the PC when he got it
Microsoft wont validate it and let us update drivers
 
Theres really no way to make home out of pro, there really validating the pin number to the system, I dont see anyway unless you have a copy of pro with a valid pin number thats not on another system. Or a good XP home cd and just reinstall.
