New Monitor

My screen started going fuzzy and so I just went out and bought myself a new monitor with my savings. I guess I was being kind of stupid. I new I wanted a glass screen as opposed to a LCD screen because I've always felt they show truer color, I also didn't want a wide screen because I didn't really see why I needed it.

Instead I let myself be talked into getting a 17" widescreen LCD flat screen. It's pretty and it saves space, but I'm a photographer and it distorts all my images, I found that out just by browsing, also, the color seems so dull compared to the glass.

Is there a way I can help with the color and the distortion, or should I take it back?

This is it.

I believe depending on what resolutions you use, whether you use analog or digital cables, and what graphics card/drivers you can fix up your display to look "right". Get the latest drivers for your graphics card, and usually they have an advanced menu you can play around in with color, I know ATI and NVIDIA both have color adjuster. However, with size Im not so sure, I dont have a widescreen to play around in, try different resolutions?

Welcome to the forum :).

I don't know what you really just said there, lol. I guess I'm just looking for true color.

Oh, and thank you :D

when you right click on the desktop and pick properties and open the last tab it will show what resolution you're running at. 1280x1024 or something.

^ Yes. But no matter what resolution I use it always pulls the screen and distorts my pictures. Right now my resolution is at 1024 x 768, which is what it was before on my glass screen.

So imagine all your pictures stretched the right because of that.

I also changed the color to 6500, which looks more natural to me, but again, it's not as clear.

Heh, I dont have a myspace account so Im afraid I dont see the original. As for resolution, the recommended for your monitor is 1440 by 900, have you tried that?

Analog cable is the blue one, digital is white.
Digital will get you better quality.

Speaking of that, just wanna through in this little fact,
lcd should be better quality then glass
Thats not true, they are of equal quality in quality. Depending on what you judge quality by ;D. If its by viewing angle, brightness, longevity, etc...

What graphics card do you have? From there I should be able to suggest a few more things to help you out.

Weird, my profile isn't on nonpublic, but ok. And it doesn't even give me the option of 1440 by 900.

I got a CD with my monitor called "Installation Guide" TFT LCD Monitor. Should I run it?

Edit: Ok, ran it, but all it had were to links: Install Adobe Reader or Install Driver (Vista OS required).

Digital will get you better quality.

Uhh, I got two black cables, one of which has a blue inserter-thing (the other one is the power plug).

installing the drivers will allow you to set native resolution. most monitors dont require drivers but it will not know what resolution is native so you can set your monitor to 2048x1056 lol on a 17in withou driver but is not gonna work but is available.
