Hi,

If a laptop has PC100 RAM in it, will it be able to take PC2700 RAM, I'm assuming because it's DDR that it'll be able to?

Would it work if I put it in?
Thanks.

Yes the ram will work the higher clocked ram will downclock to the slower rams speed.

Nope, PC100 is SDRAM whereas PC2700 is DDR RAM, they are different types and sizes I think.

No don't put it in. Listen to GCR!

Didn't see that, the internet was slow where I was at, so I was replying when GCR typed that, my reply was to Jughead.

But thanks for the reply GCR and Cromewell.

It's alright Jughead, thanks for the post though.

Yeah I saw the times but it's better to be sure then have someone try and cram something in :)

Normally jughead would be right but they are different types of RAM so it's just an oversight. Easy enough to do, happens to everyone.
Wow, first time's someone's ever said that!
Yeah, but you were right. :)

There will be problems, it won't fit! Plus you can't mix DDR/SDRAM as they operate differently.

Well technically they're both SDRAM. One is just SDR SDRAM and the other is DDR SDRAM. But yes, they're not interchangeable!
