Hi I'm doing a Computer summer camp and it was to make a PC Magazine.

Which one is best

Personally I would get rid of the solid colors, black is better then red, but I would still like to see something different.
 
The first one is better but as OMEGA said get rid of the solid colors and mix it up a bit then it should turn out great.
 
wow this would be such a fun project to do!! i would as the others have said get rid of the solid colours and add more pictures into the backdrop.. like a collage of pictures.. also if PC MADNESS is the name of the mag move it to the top of the cover apose to the bottom.. add a few more front cover articles and if it was me i would move the lara croft picture more to the left and have any other pics fanning out from her slightly and the articles on the right a bit more.. and to make it look real put a fake barcode in the bottom left hand corner:D

looks like you made it in paint. not good. if you cant afford photoshop i'd say get GIMP. from there you can create layers for your objects, and especially get rid of those horrid blocks of text. other than that your concepts are good. look at other magazine covers for reverence. you want big eye grabbing text, not paragraphs. keep the titles and commentary to one line if possible.

toss out the girl and the guy on the VS. replace the girl with a HD2900XT card, and on the right maybe a close up pic of an 8800 GPU (not the card, just the gpu, like this ). then white out the name on that pic, make them think its an 8900 concept ;)

and the alienware looks a bit smushed lol find a more balanced pic of it. google is your friend here.
 
ok dude i dont know if this will help but i made my own pc cover (cuz it looks fun!) using your information.. now all i did was go to google image search and found all the pics and then put everything into paintbrush.. cut around each character using paintbrushes cut tool.. then used the color match eye drop thing and pencil to get the edges blending in.. took a while but was alot of fun:D i hope u like it:)

p.s. i also added a little bar code down the bottom to make it look real:)

i like that but remove the rainbow >_> and put the name up at the top. after my pizza i'll swap it around and make it look all purdy. :D

and can you upload the original images please? i cant seem to find the tomb raider one in particular.
