Double posts.........

Actually, you can play Oblivion on both of your machines; there's a mod called Oldblivion that allow you to play Oblivion on old graphics cards with a decent framerate.

But, when it comes down to the bottom-line, yu won't be able to play it how it's meant to be played with your current specs which may not be worth de money....

no....... On both comps you can play.........

Edit: Oh, I get what you mean...... Playing a game 'how it's meant to be played' is not only a phrase but also a trademark(?) by nVidia. It means that you won't be able to play it at the best settings possible or, otherwise, the settings it was meant to play at.....

or at least play well?

A. Resolution Laptop/pc
B. Settings Laptop/PC
c. fps laptop/pc

For the most part, I don't think I can answer that very well although I guess I can say that you're not going to get outstanding performance in any of those fields. Try looking at the examples provided by Oldblivion and their settings.

On your Desktop you'll be able to get about medium settings. 1072x768 Res, no bloom, no AA, shadows off.

Not too sure about the laptop, but my laptop can play it decently at medium settings, High textures, no bloom, no AA, low shadows, 1280x800. You should be able to get similar settings, with your ram being your bottleneck.

Speedyink's spot on. With my setup i could play it all high, cept self shadows, shadows on grass at a 1280 x 1024 res. FPS 15-25, good enough for me.

Your 6600 would be able to play it medium, maybe even med-high if you download reduced poly grass (and similar mods) and mess around with the config files with the help of Tweakguides.
