Downgrading Vista

My sister recently bought a Compaq computer with Vista installed but its very slow and tiresome since the computer came with only 1gig Ram. I want to downgrade hers to XPSP2 which I have the discs that came with my Compaq to do this with...

My Compaq is the R4000 and has 2gigs ram perfect for vista, but can i install vista from the restore disc that can be made from her computer?

It's not legal, so you wont get much help here. It's possible that it will work, but I doubt it because they are from difference computers, unless they are both identical or similar.

I dont see how it is illegal, we paid for both versions legitimately we would merely be swapping the OS's. Both Computers are Compaq's. I have the driver cd for mine so my drivers could be restored, as for hers, Compaq offers driver downloads from their site so that should be acceptable in that manner. Is there any risks in doing this?

As long as the Compaq is not in use, you may do this. If you have Xp on the Compaq, that is illegal.

Wait...both are Compaqs...which do you mean?

In any case Im not worried about the legality of doing it. I paid for both therefore whatever im not downloading it for free or anything stupid like that.

All I wanna know is would it work?
