my geforce 7600 gt has a 'plug in ' on it to connect to an additional card. That would have to be a pci card right? I checked the instructs but I dont see info regarding this.

Its called SLI and you have to have a SLI motherboard, it has 2 SLI X16 slots and theres a bridge that connects the 2 cards. You cant run SLI with 1 card in a PCIe slot and the other in a PCI slot

If you're talking about the gold pinned piece in the middle of the picture, that the SLI connector. That's used to utilize two videocards at the same time.

In order to use SLI you need to have an SLI-ready motherboard.

if you want to run two cards in SLI you will need a Motherboard with 2X Pci-e slots.

if your mobo only has one then you will not be able to SLI.

They dont have special versions for SLI, most of the 6 series, and all of the 7 and 8 series are SLI-capable, but you need an SLI motherboard with two PCI-E x16 slots.
