Need A Great PC for $600-$700

Hello.

I want a great PC for $600-$700; that is my budget.
I'd like dual core processors (I am thinking minimum of AMD x2 Athlon 64 5000+ or Intel Pentium D 3.4ghz 960).

I'd like there to be a lot of cache (because I will be multitasking) along with good front side bus (will also be gaming).

So I need a good video card (not the best but something that is good and will give me some good graphic quality for WoW and games like that) with 256mb.

Also looking to have 2gb of DDR2 RAM 800mghz and minimum dual 80gb 7200rpm 16mb cache hard drives (can be bigger if price is good) that I want to run RAID 0 set-up. :)

Please include everything I'll need for PC (fants, heatspreader etc) or direct me somewhere I can buy one.

that is a very doable budget for what you need IF you buld it yourself..

do you plan on building it?

your title makes me thing you want to buy that for that price.. That might be a bit harder to find.. you seem to know alot about computers form the info in that post.. I HIGHLY recomend you build it.. it is not hard at ALL.. and if you have ANY questions we would gladly help you here..

So, first think I would do is decided for sure on a processor.. AMD or Intel.. its all up to you.. but do your research, you can get a great processor for a great price, or a junk procrssor for a junk price if your not carful.

If it were me on that budget I would go for (doing some research.. will update in a few mins)
 
Hey I do not know how to build a computer but I doubt that is hard. :(
What would be hard is configuring hardware and stuff...I want to run Ubuntu Linux on my computer.

And I did a lot of research about the processor...I want to go with AMD x2 64 6000+ :o

Not sure if I can afford it though..

I have been up 3 days going on 4 in a row trying to get a new computer. I need it for my business and gaming (I work from home) and this is very tedious.

I've been trying to learn as much as I can so I don't waste my money etc.
 
that is a nice processor, I just picked one up BRAND NEW WITH HEATSINK for $173 plus $12 shipping.. Very good processor..
 
Of course you are going to get the "most bang for the buck" building yourself. You can check sites like ibuypower and i think its cyberpowerpc? i think they both have configurators so you can pick what parts you want. If you cant afford the 6000+ the 5600 is a nice chip also, very easy to clock faster than the 6000, i have mine at 3.33Ghz now. But i do think you can get a nice pc for $600-700. Do you plan on overclocking? right now intel is the better cpu's for overclocking but if not you may can get more out of amd at stock clocks.

Edit: IntelCrazy has a nice build :P, the intel price drops are right around the corner if you can hang in there ;)

I am a hard core AMD fan, but the last 4 days or so I have been beating myself up on weather to get a Q6600 for $360, or a FX-74 for $339 (I know I need a dual socket MOBO for the 74).. but EVERY other article I read says the 74 is better, then the 6600 is better.. AHHH.. I would save about $100 going intel because the cheepest dual socket mobo I can find is $300, thats about $100 more than I will spend on a good mobo for the intel. I dono what to do!!!!!.. AHHHHHHHHHHHH

(yes I plan to overclock the funk out of that thing, so maybe intel would be a better choice.. I hear they oc better???)
 
I checked cyberpowerpc they offer me dual core amd 3800+ -_- for $700...

Not good..

If I am to do custom I am going to have to pay local computer shop $150 to build it :'(
 
you can do it yourself man.. its really hard at all, there are walkthrews.. and its self explainitory.. i build alot of pc for people and I prefer that they dont watch, cuz EVERY FKN time they watch they never come back because they do it them self cuz they see how easy it is..

If I do build it infront of them I try to complex it up.. I go into dos and so stuff from a cd I have before I install a OSS..lol

But I don't want to get electrocuted or anything...is there like a handbook or anything I can read that is like 5 pages long with pics for building a PC? :D

I bought a CD a while go how to build your own pc and it looked so difficult I couldn't follow through with directions at all :(

There isn't a good book, but kowoski has a guide with pictures, just look at this signature for the link :P
