Ok, Ive had an old pc that finally bit the dust... but a few things were still good on it... cd drive, hard drive, and thats about it... So i ordered all kinds of stuff from newegg... a case, mobo, cpu, psu, ram, and all that good stuff. Well, after i finished putting it all together, i went to power up, but no go.. It says windows wont open because a hardware change. Well, i dont know what to do. Ive already got rid of my old pc, and now i dont know how to install the mobo driver from the cd it came with. what should i do.... heres the stuff i bought btw.

MoboECS GEFORCE6100SM-M (1.0) AM2
CPU AMD|A64 X2 3600+ 1.9G AM2 1M R
PSU SUNBEAM|PSU-BKS580-US 580W RT
Ram - 1g Kingston
Cooler Master Mystique case

Thanks for all your help in advance

When you significantly change the hardware in your computer, you have to reactivate windows. They should give you a number to call...

What i think it is is the Hard Drive. Because the hard drive has the OS in it. so did u buy new software and downloaded it? if u did then thats why it would say that. it doesnt recongine the OS. so delete everything from the hard drive and then download OS again then try again. BTW what hard drive are you using (just curious). If it is not so good it might just be better to buy a new one preferably a seagate. 320gb for 79.99 on newegg or somewhere around there (the price)

Ok, well it already had windows on it, and i couldnt afford another copy because the cheapest... windows xp home, was around 80$ for the oem.. I wanted to use the os already on it, but its not working... the hard drive is kinda old and all, and im not sure the brand, ill check later. but how would i go about doing this as is?

only thing i could think of would be to find a way to get your old windows CD key from the hard drive, get the windows cd, and just install it again.

i never got the windows cd..... my mom had the pc first and got a pc guy to just install xp....which means im gonna have to buy a new window, right? and to top it off, the cd key on it was not authentic windows or whatever. lol, there goes about 80 bucks

edit: one more thing, what do you all think about my setup so far? and p.s.s when i installed my mobo, i didnt realize there were spacers for it, so i just installed it without them.... im gonna have to take it out and put them in correct?

Try to boot into safe mode, if it does uninstall all your old drivers-chipset-sound-video then try to reboot, if it does then install all your new drivers

Ron we don't allow such things as serials off websites, or downloading programs without buying them so if you can edit your post and remove all the illegal stuff/commenting would be better for everyone

Spacers really should only be used if needed. Oh go to----- and get the serial key for what ever edition of microsoft you have. NOTE this site does have porn on it at the top no popup though. so wouldnt recomend it with guardian around. tell me how that does.

This is a No No:confused:

I didnt know I thought we were open to suggestions I have never used it but i was merely suggesting it. look i even deleted to show i was sincere go look were i posted it at.

Stranglehold please edit your post as well since it's quoting ron and the prohibited stuff, leaving that aside what you could do is try to order some linux like ubuntu and use it while you get some money to buy the original version of windows ( if you have don't cash atm that's ofc)

Get a better motherboard than ECS , and maybe an better PSU. I havent heard much from Sunbeam... How many amps on the 12+ rail?

Not sure what youre askin in your question oscaryu1, but here are links to the stuff i ordered

Mobohttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135039
CPU
Casehttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119129&CMP=EMC-IGNEFL061207&ATT=N82E16811119129
Ramhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134216
PSU
as for using linux, ive never used it before, does it have the same stuff as windows, or whats it like and all that.... im really just wanting to play a few games and browse the web on the pc i built, so should i just save for windows and use my family pc until then?

Then use Linux. Its free and is like Windows. Its a great piece of software :D

the PSU link is gone. same with the cpu one.

oh, hmmm, i wonder why it took them out? anyways

so where do i get a linux os at? can i download it, and burn it to a cd so i can boot my pc with it? and when i get windows, can i partition my hdd with both of them some how?
You could also order the cd/dvds by mail for no charge but they would take a while to get there

http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

BTW get a better psu, since that one you suggested is trash ( not trying to be mean or anything)

thats the cpu i already have lol, and maybe later ill get a better one, if i order a windows xp cd... and i downloaded ubuntu, putting it on a cd right now.
