what makes it better than mine

im thinking of geting an 8800 gts as my next card , but what makes it better than mine ??

My videocard Specs-

Memory- 512 mb
625 MHz engine clock
1.4 GHz memory clock
GDDR 3
256 bit
PCIe
direct x 9

bottlenack, u mean the transfer rate, or processing is slower than the GTS. hmm it seems like my card would be faster in some areas, except memory clock

look into some smaller details like, pixel pipelines, vertex proccessors, texel fill rate, and you will notice that the 8800 will outdo your card any day.

There are soo many things involved in making " chosing " a good video card that simply saying, high memory, and high clock values is not going to get you anywhere, except for a really bad deal, and alot of headaches.

The 8800's and X1600's are totally different cards, Comparing their specs won't do any good, Just know the 8800 use a more efficient architecture on a very different platform core.

Why not do the conventional method and just check the fps on each card in certain games.

Exactly, that would work. I figured He'd sell the x1600 before buying the 8800, or at least that's what i would do.
