They made XP- XP SP1 and XP SP2 CDs, but if you just have a XP with no service pack you can download both for free from microsoft. You can even slipstream either to your plain XP cd.

The first XP cd here to upgrade from 98 was an SP1 recovery disk bought OEM at a pc show when first seen. Later I found XP/SP2 OEM online for like $80-. The prices keep varying depending on version(Home or Pro).

WHY? Have you ever repartitioned a drive and needed to what? Reinstall XP and then wade through a ton of updates? Instead of the long wait while downloading and installing and downloading and installing after the reboots you simply start the installer on the 266mb download you can save in a folder or burn to removable. You don't have to wait to download it again if you already have it onhand. Simple solution.

In my experience with both vista and linux (Ubuntu 7.04 to be exact) Vista is WAY more stable. I'm not even exaggerating or w/e, Vista>Linux. The reason you probably don't like Vista is because you don't know how to use it, judging by your spelling...

Again, this is my own opinion/experience. I should also mention that Linux is awesome and the only thing effecting my decision in which is better is driver support (which isn't actually Linux's fault...but...yeah) If I were you I'd dual boot.

no i mean the internet explore end tasking ( i know it will not fix it) and bsod. that is why linux is better, no bsod. btw. no i just suck at spelling

Where do you think softpedia gets there downloads from, microsoft has them before softpedia , its the same download. Its been on Microsoft since it was released
