I made a 30 GB partition out of my 160 GB HDD, than installed Vista on that, after realizing Vista sucks, I formatted that partition using Acronis, only problem is, now every time I boot up, after clicking XP in Acronis, it asks if I want to boot Vista or an older version of Windows, how do I get it to just boot XP?

The Vista installer creates a folder called boot and copies it's own boot loader to the primary partition on the primary drive. Those files can be hard to remove by manual methods. For creating a new XP mbr you can try the "Fixboot" and "Fixmbr" commands at the recovery console to see it that will get you past the Vista loader and write the new boot info.

the MFT is on the physical drive, not the logical one

deleting a partition doesn't erase boot information

Deleting the XP primary would since that is the first partition where the boot loader and mbr are found. But that means wiping the drive and installing XP on a new single primary to remove all traces of Vista. When moving 3 of 4 HDs into a new build here the first of two ide drives will remain seeing XP Home and the Vista files removed by wiping the drive for a clean install of XP Pro. The new build will see XP Home and Vista installed each as stand alone OSs on separate drives to avoid that situation.
