NETGEAR usb adaptor

A couple of months ago we bought a netgear router and a USB adaptor for a second computer. The second computer is kinda far from the router, but after installation the adaptor worked just fine saying it had about %50 of the signal.
Well conveniently, the adaptor stopped working after a month and we couldn't return it, the computer would say high speed usb plugged into non high speed usb hub
Also the NETGEAR program that would tell you if it was connected won't open once it messes up.
Also the adaptor is always really warm when it messes up and the casing close to the usb end seems a little loose.

Do you think we could return it to netgear?? or would we just have to buy another one??

sorry for the life story:o but thanks for any help you can give:)

I would runinstall the usb driver and reinstall them, also some usb 2.0 devices need drivers to work in a usb 1.x ports

IMO I would never ever buy a usb adaptor they are crap and seem to always be nothing but problems. Your best bet woudl be to go get an internal pci adaptor and install that one you will get better reliability and signal.

Yea I tried a different usb port, and I tried reinstalling it, ended with the same problem. It worked fine but idk. Do you know where I could get a driver for it?
Yea I would've bought the internal adaptor but I wasn't the one that bought all the stuff unfortunately.

did you uninstall the USB port drivers ( not the usb device ) and reinstall them.
do you have other USB devices and are they working ?

oh no not the USB port drivers, how do you do that??
I have 2 flash drives that work on it. It says they're high speed in a non high speed hub but they work.
and one usb mp3 player that also works just fine on it (not high speed)

just like you uninstall all drivers in the device manager at the bottom under " universal serial bus controllers " remove the contorller drivers.

but since you have other devices that are working this will not help

yes if you will be using it alot forget about the usb version they are not ment to be used like a internal card.
Get a PCI card you will be better off

yea its a cake walk just open the case and pop it in an open PCI slot

Dont put it to close to your video card cause it can cause the cards to get to hot.

thats about it other then installing the driver that come with it or
download the lastest version.

Agree, go for PCI, thats what im using on my computer (in sig) for my gaming since its wireless. I gotta admit the antenna looks cool

See :P
Linky

Edit, just pop it in and install the software and your good to go
