hi
every body out there
how can i format my laptop??
can any one say me

i tried to format laptop with bootable cd but it did nt work..
i formated desktop with d same dics but its nt working in laptop

is there any other way of formating laptop.....is formating laptop is totally different frm desktop or d same way??
 
formating a desktop and laptop are the same,
is the laptop set to boot to the CD ?
how far are you getting ( whats happening or not happening )
 
For formatting a drive for NTFS depending on version of Windows varies. For XP the installer will format the primary where the Windows setup files will be copied to. For cleaning a drive fast you would delete the current primary and create the new one needed for a fresh install or use a drive partitioning tool before going to install Windows.

For Vista MS smartened up a little with the new option seen when booting with the install disk with the option to simply format an existing partition or after creating a new one without installing Windows. These are seen in a second screen when selecting the repair tools option at the bottom of the first screen.
 
when i open my laptop whic is boot to cd
after booting there must come prompt which says press any key to boot frm cd but dat doesnt appears n read hard disk and my pc hangs up

Try pressing a key repeatedly to see if it still boots from the cd drive. One way to force it to boot from the optical drive is to disable the 1st hard drive as the second device and only have cd rom as the only boot device enabled. Once the hard drive is formatted and re OSed simply re-enable the hd as the 1st boot device to see the installation completed.
