blocking one computer on a network from the internet

I have got an old windows xp machine not doing much with an 80GB. I have got three other computers all networked up one wired and two wireless.

I was thinking of turning the old computer into a storage device but with windows xp installed

i would not want to go on the internet with it i would just want the computer avaliable to the other networked computers as a storage device.

So basically i want to block the old computer from accessing the internet but be able to access it locally

Is there anyway of doing this?

Hope it makes sense!!

Cheers

Disable DHCP from the router and specify the IP, Subnet, Gateway and DNS on each PC manually and leave the Gateway and DNS empty in the one you don't want to have internet access.

1) get decent router that supports DD-WRT

2) Load DD-WRT firmware on said router

3) Under the restrictions section of the dd-wrt control panel you can disable internet connection by MAC address, ip, and you can even restrict times of the day the client can browse the net. So, lets say you have a kid, and want the internet to shut down at 8pm every night, you can do that by configuring it in your router.

check this out for a full list of compatible routers

Just open up ur modem remote web management ( http://192.168.1.1 or etc ) login and search for something that says block/filter ip. then keyin the ip address there. its easier if you have modem user manual - search through google. Good luck
