8800GTS and 40" Monitor

I recently got a 40" samsung tv which i conected my comp to and i need to know if this vid card will be able to output good graphics (Max). Here is what i was looking at..

I am using 1024 x 768 and probably wont be changing my res.

1920X1200 the 2900 already struggling at max so i doubt the 8800gts can do on a 40 incher.

for that resolution then that card would suffice, however on such a large monitor dont expect fantastic frame rates or refresh rates at max settings on games

Well right now im running an old ATI Radeon 9200 and im getting 150fps max on counter-strike. With counter strike running 1024 x 768. so..

if your talking about counter strike the original one then yes, you would be because its nearly 10 years old, new graphically demanding games wouldnt be playable on max settings

you can give it a shot but the text will be barely legible. movies and games will be fine, but you wont be able to read any normal sized text clearly. there is a reason why a 30" MONITOR costs as much as a 50" high def TELEVISION. its all about resolution.

but yes any 8800 would be fine at the specified resolution. and dont think you can up the res and anti-alias it out to make it look better. you can seriously mess up your TV if you set the resolution too high.

It's 1024x768, so yes, it will be able to handle is easily.

The blurry text issue was mainly a CRT problem, and while some Lcd's can have the problem most new ones won't.

LCD TV's are different. Having a 40" screen with a resolution of only 1024x768 will be good for videos and gaming, but the text is going to be very blurry.
