say , I have windows 2000, and I went into my power settings and found only my monitor is set to go off at 20 minutes, The question , is my computer is very quiet without turning the hard drives off after say 30 minutes, when I had windows 98 ,I could actually hear the hard drives kick in , but not now so I stand by the old fraze if its not broke dont fix it, but is this ok to leave it on without the hard drives turning off? ?:o

Kind of unclear what you just said. . . its too early for me too be up.

If your askin if its OK to leave your hard drives on?

Yes. My hard drives never off.

There ALWAYS Spinning, They dont make a noise, but you can feel them spinning if you place your hand on one of them.

:) you are right Thanks

If there on 24/7 then I would get some proper cooling in that case. If there 10,000 RPM + HDDs then expect your system for heat up fast... in power management you can choose when to shutdown the HDDs to save life.

no theses drives are in a standaerd radio shack presario:rolleyes:

If i was you, and wanted too run then 24 / 7, just get some good cooling and you will be perfect.

By good cooling, Some Strong Fans Blowing on it would be great.

u don't NEED to cool ur hard drives.......it's just an option....u can monitor the temps now with a temp monitoring program

stick with ur old addage...if it aint broke don't fix it......

:P Thanks, its not even warm my fan in the rear isnt even going on high speeds ,it did before I had work done on it with windows 98, now with windows 2000 it breezes along, I guess Im not use to having a good operating computer.when I had the old set up I could hear the hard drives kick in when I went on line, I could hear the rear fan go into a high cool mode also, but now its seems fine , I just wanted to make sure aand see how many people dont set there hard drives to turn off in power managment.
