Hi, I am having some difficulty in choosing the right graphics Card. I have been looking at the New Radeon 512MB 2900XT series and I got to say they have pretty good specs. But then again I Nvidia is also good. I have been using Nvidia on all my computers. I don't know which one is going to be better. The 640MB 8800GTS or the 512MB radeon 2900XT? If someone can help me let me know. I want your opinion. thank you

lol it's hard for me to say this as an 8800gts 640mb owner, but from what I've heard the 2900 is better...However, it's quite a bit more expensive as well, so it all depends on how much you're willing to pay.

tbh, not only is the ati one better, but ati's af and aa + hdr is unmatched they really > than nvidia in that factor, but the 8800 card is still a great card. Both will make a gamer happeh.

It depends on how much money you have. HD2900XT is slightly better, but it is also more expensive.

However, I recommend 8800GTS 320MB because it is the best value for money

The 2900XT would be better, and the technology is also better then nVidia's almost year old 8 series.

Thats when you get an X2 512mb 8600GTS for better preformance and cheaper;)

Can you explain what technology that HD2900XT have that nvidia 8 series doesn't have ?!!
Lets see, it has built in HDMI and 5.1 surround sound audio, 24x custom AA which is said to be next gen, as well as others I cant name off the top of my head.

wait...I see that the specs include 5.1 audio...but how does one utilize it? There are no audio ports on the back D:

Also, you guys are making me sad about my 8800 =/

The card comes with a HDMI adaptor and when used with a HD TV (which is great) no other cables are needed to produce sound, it all runs through the card. I tried Doom 3 on my 43inch Pioneer with 24x custom AA and all other settings maxed via CCC, absolutely nuts.

HDMI is video and audio, so you can use the HDMI port and cable for both high-def video and 5.1 surround sound.
