don't buy a car invest the money in some high dividend stocks and the get a drip plan.
your so young that by the time your 30 with some good choices you could triple your bling

ummm...heres a thought, why dont ur parents get u the car? I mean they are your parents, and afterall, you are only 16.

Then u can save a little more $$$ and go all out on a nice computer. And BAM!! u got both :D

^^^Im serious.

Not all parents just buy their kids stuff. My parents never bought me a car.

Well ofcourse they dont just buy stuff. the kid hasto show that he is responsible enough for it, and do various other things like get good grades and do stuff around the house.

And realistically, with only 1500$ and a part time job, you are looking to wait a couple of years to get a -nice- car anyway (unless ur not looking for the nice factor in ur car, lol)

Unless your parents are in a sticky financial state, or ur just a bad kid ( :P ), they should atleast provide u with some car (nice or not).

Come on that's bull. I'm 17, and I'd never expect my mother to baby the F*ck outa me and buy me a car.. That's just selfish. They brought you up, fed you, clothed you, put up with your shit, and now they're expected to buy you a car?

Get a job and buy your own you hippie. :D

(BTW, single parent here. She's struggled my entire life to keep us going so i guess my point of view only works with me. Kids who have parents who make a fair bit o' money or spoil there kids don't have to worry bout that i suppose.)

If anything, you'd upgrade your GFX to maybe a low end X19xx series, like a X1950 Pro. You won't have any issues with games. What I've found is a few years later it won't make a bit of difference whether you had a nice computer or not. As long as it does what you need it to do :D.

I wouldn want too accept a car from my parents, I would rather get the satisfaction knowing that i had to Work for it.

What in life is just going too give Hand Outs?

I completely agree with Tlarkin and dakaptin!

Who's here parents actually bought there car for them?

Posted By dakaptin :D

sup man, I reccommend gettin a car for just after u get ur P's, that way ull be able to save a bit more too. mate trust me when it comes to a car, sunny coast (but anywhere in qld for that matter) women, and good times all go together!!!! I shud know!!!

It dont even have to matter that it's all flash lookin an stuff too coz many ppl that age dont think to save to get a car anyway so u'll find they'll soon start hangin off u (incl girls!!!)

Make sure u get one thats in good mechanical condition first.

u can find a lot of good magnas as a suggestion for 2-4 grand all in good condition (dont buy one that has rego 696 CET - my old one lol), and yes im thinkin about back seat comfort here lol.

LOL! Ill keep an Eye out for that Rego Hey?

You Flogg It did ya?

The worst thing, is knowing you can get your Learners soon, But just not there yet. . .

Want time too speed up!!!

lol ye i know, u fellas got it harder too to get to P's, we only waited 6 mths, and never neede p/l plates, ever!!

Regarding parents:

My parents never bought me a car, but they did give me the old one (that magna) it wasnt worth much by then anyway. I still had to pay for rego, maintenance etc though. A car isn't a gift, it's a frikkin responsibility more than anything and if parents think you have what it takes, and if they are generous (and trusting) enough, then maybe ull get a car!!

But what does that say about your own self ability? I'd respect someone who has had to work for their stuff more than one who gets it handed to em!!!! It doesn't mean those ppl are baby-fed or anything like that though, just inicates their independance and self reliance.

(yeah i know i just skrewed myself ova there)

nono, Thats a Good Arguement of Parents trusting you enough too give you a car.

Its not that my parents dont trust me, its more of what i get, i should earn the hard way.

They will help out if i really need it, but not if im doing good on my own.

I know, it really sucks for us hey. . .

we get it so bad.

yeah i totally agree!!!! (on both issues there)

My opinion on parenting (i don have kids so is not worth much lol) is that you should give your kids the skills to suceed in life. if your kid can have the abiliity to work for themselves and have the self control, determination and motivation to do sumthin as major as buying a car when they are 16, all by themselves, then thats proof enough that you will be able to do well/better in life. what the parents do from then on is their choice - help get an even better car or leave them be.

And having said that, parents still love their kids and will "pick them up if they falll"

Bout Time People Started being Rational!

meh...what i meant back there was if u really needed a car, ur parents should get it for u. If u want the car, then u should partially work for it. I didnt mean they should come in ur room one day and say that theyre getting u a car cuz they love u. If u have a job and are currently relying on ur parents to take u and bring u, then i would say that getting a car for u is kinda a necessity, only if they have the money to do so. If they dont, live with it. How much can a 16 yr old make in a year anyway? Certainly not enough for buying a car (unless ur going to make payments on it, which i do not recommend, along with leasing ;) ).

Remember, the statistics say 6000 teens a year are killed in auto accidents.

Get a computer, your life will be safer because of it.

(and so will mine! :)

Thats True.

There are Many Many Reckless Drivers out there.

Not only Teens.

BUT.

We always get the blame for it all.
