I love my Western Digitals... My gf also has this guy http://ecost.com/detail.aspx?edp=35404611 because for the price you can't beat it... it runs great too. Plus eSATA is legit.

I just purchased a Western Digital Elements(I think that's right...) The price was very good and reviews seemed very promising. I didn't get it today, but it should arrive tomorrow... You can also purchase enclosures and make your own, but anymore, it's cheaper to get premade ones...

But with anything, do not rely on one form of backup. Still keep copies of things on your computer or elsewhere. I have seen external drives fail and people lose everything...

The drive itself supports 3GB/s, but USB 2.0 is 420MB/s max, I wonder how that works

USB 2.0 is 480. And expect about ATA33 or maybe ATA66 speeds with a USB drive.

Have a look at Lacie. They look pretty nice. can be pricey though.
