alright so i was deleting some files i did not need, and i get an error report, like i have in the past, and i clicked ok and then on anoher one, do not send. now other clears all my icons on my desktop, showing just the background, it usually reappears after a few seconds. this time it didnt. i turned my computer off and tried restarting. it turns on, but show a black, lit screen. and nothing else.



what do i do?

btw, i typed this on my phone, not the computer.

Alright. I unplugged my monitor power cable, and plugged it back in, and it works now. I type this sentence on my computer.

I am leaving the above underlined, italicized paragraph for future reference.

Like what happens when you end the "explorer.exe" process?

You could start Windows with the "last good configuration" by pressing F8 on startup. I'm pretty sure it's F8, but I may be wrong.

Looks like you got it fixed.

I had this problem I guess Wednesday night, my computer didn't want to go to sleep and I was in a hurry to get back to work(lunch break). So, I just held down the power button until it shut down. I came home that evening and just got the lit black screen and my KB wouldn't illuminate. So I unplugged the PSU, hit the power button like normal, and plugged back up. PC eye told me to do this and that it purges the Capacitors in the PSU. I think it's a Vista bug....
